Stage 3 - Injen CAI & Pace Setter Dual Tip
Product Information
We decided upon Injen CAI because we carry them and have them on the shelf. =) Install was very straight forward with exception Injen gave you more than enough hoses which one will need to trim down size to fit. The fit and finish is incredible, and we especially like the fact the main intake pipe sticks a plaque that stated 'CARB EXEMPT #.." This is very critical now adays since lately California law enforcement officers were very up to task in pulling alot of 240SX's over. Keep in mind all mods up to this stage are all CARB Legal (MSD amplifier, coil, Injen intake, Magnecor Wires, etc.).
Test Drive: WOW! We are not sure if it's because of this intake or the fact we also added in the MSD ignition components, the car really WOKE UP. The infamous 'engine hard to rev in high rpm' was severly reduced, the loud growling sound from the filter is very aggressive, and the car dramatically picked up alot more low, mid and high RPM power. This mod was a 2 thumbs up for us. One other thing we noticed was the KA idled like a CHARM! No hesitation at idle, the engine just sits quietly waiting for us to romp on the gas pedal. Very nice driving quality at this point.
Our order for Pace Setter dual tip 2.50" catback has not arrive yet. When it arrive we'll finish off the install and complete this section, and give our review how much help the exhaust works in conjunction with Injen CAI. The reason why we went to 2.50" was because this car is mainly normally aspirated. For NA car, exhaust is NOT the issue of power robbing bottle neck, even 2.25" exhaust is more than ample for our 200hp goal. Originally we planned to purchase HKS dual tip 2.5" catback, but since it's on back order we had to settle for Pace Setter which is also dual tip (We are set in getting dual tip catback to keep a stealth profile on the street) and has our ideal 2.50" piping preference, both HKS and Pace Setter should offer fairly mediocre exhaust noise where we can still listen to quality music while driving the car on the street.
Now next stage will be installation of ASP light weight pulley kit, light weight drive shaft, along with other maintence parts.
** Pictures coming shortly for this stage.
